The Statue of Liberty is a tremendous structure donated as a gift from the French in 1886 to commemorate the signing of the declaration of independence and represents the bond the two countries established during the revolution. It is one the most recognisable symbols of the United States and was once the first glimpse of America immigrant had when coming to the States. It is designed to be a symbol of freedom from tyranny and oppression. This great statue means a lot to Americans, as you can imagine, but is nothing more than a nice statue to the rest of the world.
The Wallace Monument symbolises one of our most proud moments in Scottish history. The life and times of William Wallace sparked our on personal independence from the shackles of King Edward of England’s reign of terror. William, the Guardian of Scotland, led the Scots to victory at the battle of Stirling in 1297 giving him the status of National hero and giving impetus to Scotland’s eventual freedom in 1314. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking Stirling and is a magnificent sight inspiring patriotism upon those who gaze upon its grandeur. Inside there is a tribute to other Scottish heroes, with endless fascinating tales from our proud history.
